About the Role

The Systems Administrator is an integral member of our ICT team responsible for supporting the everyday operation, set-up and maintenance of our computer and network systems, and providing 3rd level troubleshooting.

They have a responsive organisational culture and, as such, the responsibilities within this role may be altered to adapt to the evolving needs of the School.


  • Service Desk and General Support Backup
    • Provide 3rd level troubleshooting and escalation resolution (onsite or remote) within agreed timeframes and service levels
    • General technical support for staff and students
    • Provide support to clients in diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues
    • Maintenance and repair of company’s owned digital devices
    • Maintain all peripheral equipment
    • Create user documentation and manage ICT self-help tools
    • Assist with general user account management
    • Manage login usernames and passwords
  • ICT Asset Management and Inventory
    • Import assets and maintain asset accuracy
    • Upgrades
    • General administration
    • Licence renewals
    • Troubleshooting and escalation of issues to service providers.
  • ICT Infrastructure Support
    • Server maintenance including Windows and Linux based systems
    • Creation and management of compute/storage including virtual machines through VMWare
    • Authentication platforms and SSO
    • On premise web / IIS configuration
    • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, networks, application software and system management tools
    • Ensure the highest levels of infrastructure availability
    • Maintain the integrity of secure systems during the upgrade process (backup, patching, antivirus updates)
    • Complete routine and regular maintenance for the schools systems.
  • Sophos Cloud
    • Endpoint security policy deployment and administration
    • Sophos phish testing creation and reporting
    • License renewals
    • Troubleshooting and escalation of issues to service providers.
  • Microsoft / Azure Cloud management
    • Microsoft Intune configuration and deployment
    • Azure Active Directory management
    • Microsoft 365 management.
  • Other Duties
    • Annual digital device rollout and handback coordination
    • Shared administration of various software
    • Prepare and maintain technical, design and operational documentation.
  • Working Relationships
    • Reports to the Director of ICT & Digital Learning
    • Works collaboratively with the ICT Team
    • Provides customer service specialising in ICT to members of the school’s community.
    • Responsible to the Director of Business, Finance & Facilities and ultimately the Principal.


  • Essential
    • Completed an IT degree or equivalent with at least 5+ years’ experience in delivering technology / infrastructure solutions (project implementation) to medium – large organisations
    • Demonstrated experience in the roll-out of technology projects such as Wi-Fi implementation, unified communication, networking, mobility, cloud solution (such as Office365) and other infrastructure projects
    • Experience in VMWare technology, with a strong background in the use, support, administration and deployment of infrastructures (Windows/Linux)
    • Experience with Win10, M365 and Mac based environments
    • Experience managing the following:
      o Windows Server, Linux
      o Microsoft 365
      o Azure AD
      o Microsoft Intune
      o Veeam back up and replication
      o VMWare
      o Intermediate / Advanced Powershell programming abilities
      o Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SMTP, IIS and certificate management
    • Experience in the implementation of appropriate security measures and practices to ensure business systems, networks and telephony are secure from threats
    • Strong awareness and understanding of hardware, networks, security, coding tools, software technologies and applications
    • Ability to maintain and uplift a variety of systems using best practice (security, testing, utomation, and monitoring)
    • Analytical skills and a practical approach to solving business problems
    • Ability to deliver smaller projects from a one-person team and work with a larger group on more complex projects
    • Capacity to operate both independently, using initiative and self-direction, and as a team member to produce consistently high-quality work
    • Demonstrate a willingness to learn, embrace emerging technology and highlight your dedication to long term growth.
