Metering Analyst

We are looking for a Metering Analyst to support the operational day-to-day performance of the metering function within the energy market. As part of the Melbourne metering team, you will contribute to the successful delivery of meter and the operations of the meter portfolio.

This role is focused on maximising the efficiency of the metering systems and processes. You will use billing and metering systems to manage smart metering processes and the exceptions they generate. You will become the subject matter expert on our meter processes and will identify and drive improvements in them to reduce the need for manual intervention. This will involve working in partnership with multiple internal teams and with external delivery partners and systems providers.

Responsibilities

  • Support the meter installation and replacement processes
  • Liaise with third party service suppliers
  • Assist and resolve the full range of industry/market message exceptions
  • Assist with the implementation of a new billing and industry services/market message system
  • Ensure consistent on-site collection of customer and household information
  • Oversee investigation, maintenance and reporting of field services request process from initial customer contact to resolution and documentation
  • System testing and generation of performance reports
  • Support the schedule, collection, validation and storage of meter read data to ensure customers are billed accurately in a timely manner
  • Assist with the automation of key business processes and drive market leading efficiency
  • Provides support to other Analysts and Meter Shop personnel – hardware & software

Essential skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of technical experience or an associate’s or technical degree and three years of technical experience or equivalent experience
  • Communication skills to transmit information accurately and understandably in both written and verbal formats
  • Analytical skills to recognize patterns in data, information or events, to draw logical conclusions and to make recommendations for action
  • Detailed knowledge of CSS and Data Warehouse data structure
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools
  • Access and other query software skills to create and/or maintain spreadsheets and databases
