As a Data Scientist, you’ll be working with all areas of the business in a culture that’s all

You will be expected to:
● Develop and maintain advanced analytics in Quick Sight and other tools;
● Combine thought leadership, computational methods and statistical techniques to
solve business problems;
● Allow the team to make better decisions with data and personalise the experience
and interactions our customers have with us;
● Support Operations in identifying weaknesses in process and using data to provide
recommendations for improvements in the following areas: customer service,
operations, pricing and wholesale, finance and sales & marketing;
● Assist in the implementation of data and reporting for the measurement of success
against KPIs across the business;
● Maintain existing sources, datasets, reports and dashboards, and add/create new
sources, datasets, analyses and dashboards where needed;
● Collaborate and work cross-functionally;
● Understand business requirements, then build analytical models, in order to help
provide insights to the wider business;
● Communicate your recommendations and insights to drive decision making;
● Identify opportunities for and drive innovation through research and experimenting;
● Give the team the tools to self-serve where appropriate, and help business
stakeholders interpret data to enable them to derive meaningful, valuable insights;
● Mentor and advise team members on how to solve analytical, data and technical
challenges, and;
● Keep data secure and sensitive information managed as required, educating the
team as needed.
This role straddles the data science and data engineering disciplines and is an excellent
opportunity for a candidate who wishes to grow across both areas.

Basic qualifications and experience
You’ll have / be:
● A degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer or software related
engineering, or other relevant experience;
● 5 years + experience in an analytics / data-driven / data science role, ideally working
within an Operations environment to optimise operations;
● Highly experienced and proficient working with with SQL;
● Deep experience working with data in CSV, JSON, Parquet, and XML formats;
● Experience working with data pipelines, lakes, and warehouses, using one or more
cloud providers;
● Experience working with one or more BI tool(s);
● A passion to help develop and share best practices with other members of the team;
● Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills; and,
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred qualifications and experience
You’ll have / be:
● Experience writing efficient ETL and ELT code using Python and/or Scala;
● Experience with AWS services such as QuickSight, Athena, S3, Glue, and Lambda;
● Experience working with CI/CD tools and services for deploying code; and,
● Experience developing and applying tailored and effective predictive models and
machine learning algorithms.
